Who do you love?

"Who do you love?"

"Froggie"

"Who do you love?"

"Keese"

"Who do you love?"

"Dad"

"Who do you love?"

"Keese"

"Who do you love?"

"Mom"

"That's right."

Man cannot live on bread alone....

...but little boys can.

Ask Bentley what he would like to eat and most likely "toast" will be his response.

"Toast" is really any form of bread to Bentley, toasted or not. Usually "toast" is actually referring to a peanut butter and honey sandwich on untoasted bread.

Good thing he likes "toast" because peanut butter is one of the few ways I can get him to eat protein.

(not so) Reverent Book

Months ago my mom made Bentley a reverent book for church. It has a letter with a corresponding church word on each page.

B-The Book of Mormom
J-Jesus Christ
S-Sharing

We save the book for sacrament time and he looks through and finds the pictures of Jesus and it usually keeps him very quiet.

Yesterday, he realized that on the top of every page there are letters! So instead of quietly looking at pictures he would turn the pages and make each letter sound as loud as possible.

"LLLLLLL"

"MMMM"

"NNNNN"

and his favorite

"OOOOO"

Not really the best sacrament activity....and the book will be left home from now on. This letter thing is getting a little out of hand.

I'm A Big Kid Now

A few weeks ago I grabbed a pack of little Cars underwear, since I know Bentley is probably more ready to be potty trained than I am to attempt it. They even glow in the dark.

There is still an "issue" that needs to be taken care of before I start living in 15 minute increments. And besides I grabbed a 4T--and there is no way his little 25 lbs will keep them on, so they need to be exchanged for about 3 sizes smaller (he is seriously still wearing 18 mo. clothes).

But back to my story. Bentley loves to carry the container of underwear around all day long. He proudly shows them to anyone who may be in our house. He gets so excited whenever he sees them laying where he left them, and he really has no idea what they are, but that doesn't slow him down one bit.

If he is this proud of them in the container, I wonder what he will be like when he actually has them on!

Brrrrr

After a couple trips to raise the thermostat I asked, "How come when the thermometer says -7 outside it doesn't matter how warm it is in here I am still freezing?"

I was expecting an answer along the lines of "must be in your head, 75 degrees is 75 degrees no matter what it is outside."

But instead I got, "You see, it all has to do with emissivity."

At least I know I am not crazy--it is cold.

It's Official

Bentley is a freaking genius! Tonight I quizzed him and he knows the sounds of all 26 letters!! Yesterday I guessed that he "probably knew 12", so imagine my surprise when he cruised through all of them.

I have caught him on more than one occasion going through a book and pointing to different letters and making their sounds.

If I'm not careful he just might teach himself how to read.

Mailbox Woes

I like getting mail. The trip to the mailbox is the highlight of most of my days.

Before Christmas I turned in an address forwarding request. Nearly a month later and we still have not received an ounce of mail, well besides the normal junk, but nothing addressed to our actual names. I knew it took some time before we would start seeing mail at our new location, but a month? Everyday I have been disappointed when I find an empty mailbox.

I called USPS to learn that our forward request was entered into their system incorrectly and instead of forwarding it on to us, our mail has been sent back to sender as undeliverable.

Uh oh.

The nice man I talked to promised to fix the problem ASAP...but what about all of my mail from the last month? Is it lost forever?

My Picasso

What do these things have in common:

a) One couch
b) One loveseat
c) Two hands
d) Hotel door

They were all decorated with a ball point pen by Bentley yesterday.

Cookie Sheet Sledding

It was a beautiful day today, and after the last few storms that have passed through there is plenty of snow on the ground. Chod really wanted to take Bentley sledding, down the big hill, but I wasn't feeling it. After searching every store in the valley for a sled (everyone else must have had the same idea) without any luck we pulled out the WT in us and used a cookie sheet in the back yard. Our hill was more of a slope, but Bentley didn't seem to mind.

In fact I think it was better than the big hill.

Grandpa, this is for you.

2008 Resolutions

January may be close to half way over, but 2008 is barely starting so I figure it is still okay to post my resolutions for 2008 here.

1. Buy only things I love. If I don't love it, it is staying on the shelf.
2. Read scriptures everyday. It is surprising how quickly this habit can be lost.
3. Look for little ways to help others. Every day there are small things that can be done to help.
4. Study Relief Society and Sunday School lessons during the week. I will be a much better participant if I have had a few days to think about the lesson.
5. Focus more on my roles as a wife and mom. After our last few crazy months I need to be more focused on my family.
6. FLY

Pay It Forward

I won on Chalet's blog so now it is my turn to "pay it forward".

Here's how it works. You leave a comment to enter, then on Jan. 15th I will draw 3 names and then send them a fantastic gift (I am still coming up with what it will include). Then those 3 will do the same thing on their blog to pay it forward.

Good luck!

How much fun can 1 closet be?

Must Have

Every mom needs one of these. I got mine for Christmas, and while I haven't used it once, Bentley is putting it to good use.

I keep it in my purse and it does wonders to entertain the 2 year old. I give it to him while we are shopping and he has figured out how to turn it on, find the movie he wants to watch (all that is on there is Curious George and Letter Factory, so it is obviously a mom's iPod) and then he sits so quietly watching his movies. I don't let him use the earbuds, because I have better things to do than untangle wires, but as he watches Letter Factory he makes the sounds of the letters. So it is educational, right?

The Dark Ages

I think I know how it feels to be a caveman.

We left our microwave in Idaho and we don't have internet service yet.

It's rough.

Bentley's 2!

The little man is officially two! He celebrated his birthday by opening gifts every day since Christmas. They have been trickling in and he started a few days early, but I think the festivities are finally over and he will now have to adjust to no wrapping paper or new toys for a whole other year.

We celebrated among moving boxes, but we did manage to find a cake mix packed away in one of the boxes, and we had some raspberries and cool whip in the freezer. Dudey got a version of raspberry shortcake, but he hates raspberries, so he celebrated with cake and cool whip sans any candles.
