Come home, we miss you...

This is what happens when you leave the kids alone for a couple days with their dad...

Yeah, he thought his first bath was so much fun, he would take another one.

Should've Known

When asked his favorite color for the past few months, Bentley always responds, "brown and black."

I thought they were an odd choice.

Chod thought it was odd too.

After trying to figure it out on our own, I broke down and asked him why he liked the colors brown and black so much.

"Um, because they are the color of chocolate chip cookies."

It makes perfect sense now.

Glued down

I find bandages on hands to be more of a hassle than help. There's too much moving of fingers and washing of hands for them to be practical. I prefer Superglue. Right now I have a few fingers that are cracked or cut, my hands are in sad shape.

Before going to bed last night I glued my fingers back together.

A few minutes after getting in bed I went to move my arm. But I couldn't.

My right hand was stuck to the sheet.

I realized my options were 1-deal with it in the morning, 2-cut the sheet, or 3-give it a jerk and find out which was tougher the cotton or the finger.

In case you are wondering the sheet won and my finger now has bigger issues than a paper cut.

Blast Off!

Chod got a rocket for Christmas 2008.

Birthday 2009 outfitted him with a launch pad.

And a warm April 2010 gave him his first launch.

We met friends at the park for the maiden voyage to "space" and pizza.

Lincoln took his to go.

Chod had a lot of helpers.

And only had to do some minor jimmy rigging to get it to work.

The excitement when the parachute opened.

And his groupies cheering him on after retrieving the rocket.

Bentley's favorite part was the parachute and the fire. Chod's already thinking about bigger rocket engines.

Fruit Flavored Need Not Apply

At Baby Animal Days Bentley got to participate in his first candy cannon. Chod gave him a pep talk of what to do, then sent him to the front lines. Chod returned and told Lincoln that because he wasn't old enough, Bentley was their only chance for candy.

The cannon fired and the kids swarmed the field, picking up handfuls of candy. Except one.

Bentley. He ran out to the field and picked up a piece here and there and then returned to us.

Seeing that there was still a lot of candy on the ground I thought he may need some moral support so I took him back out and pointed to piles of taffy and flavored Tootsie Rolls.

"I only want the chocolate."

Sure enough, the 5 pieces in his bag consisted of one Hershey Hug and 4 chocolate Tootsie Rolls.

Pushing Buttons

As Chris and Deidra have made their final decision as to where they will be heading in August, it seems the magnetic pull of Bentley to his Aunt Deid is greater than ever.

Just this week he:
  • Invited her to live with us.
  • Started crying one morning when it was evident she wasn't at his house. It was 6:30 am.
  • Interrupted his computer playing to call down the stairs "Aunt Deid, you still here?". When she answered yes, he went back to his game.

But even though it is evident that he loves her very much, he is still a little button pusher (literally and figuratively speaking).

"Hey Bentley, do you have a favorite aunt?"

"Yep!"

"Who is it?"

And as he turns to watch her reaction he answers, "Aunt Keese."

I don't know what he's going to do when she's gone.

I don't know what I'm going to do when she's gone.

Life after death

This Easter season, death has become a main topic of conversation. For some reason when talking about resurrection we can't make it past death.

Mom, your grandma died.

How do people not die?

We don't like when people die, huh Mom?

Why do people die?

But me don't want to die.

No joking

This is what the tree outside our office window looks like this morning. April snow storms bring May what?

No wonder Bentley asked if Santa Claus was going to come last night.
