Stinky Linky

Bentley was napping on the couch. Lincoln was sleeping in his crib. And I was enjoying the quiet in the kitchen picking a fresh coconut apart. Soon I heard Lincoln above me jumping and laughing, so I decided I'd leave him there for a few more minutes while I finished.

Upon opening his door my first thought was, "Whoa that's one stinky diaper--can't someone else change it?"

And then I saw Lincoln jumping up and down without pants on. In fact he didn't have diaper on either.

And poop was everywhere.

I put him in the tub, the bedding in the washer, his pillow in the garbage and set to work cleaning crib slats and blinds. Cussing myself for letting him play so long by himself, because although he was having fun at the time I was now paying for it.

I think I got it all cleaned up, but Chod insists their room still stinks.

I've heard of other kids doing the same thing, but never thought one of them would be mine.

MTWI, My take

I debated whether or not to post this, because there are a lot of words for this blog in one post--but here it is.

Every Sunday when my sisters are over (it really has become a tradition) we watch some of Minute To Win It and comment on how it would be such a fun party idea. Luckily, on their site they have the rules and directions to most, if not all of their games. The object of the game is to complete a task in 1 minute and then move on to the next earning money in the Millionaire fashion.

Tuesday morning I spent more time than I should have reading and watching their games and taking notes in case I decide to use it for the Stephens reunion this summer. All of the games require household objects, many that I had laying around.

Around noon I instant messaged Chris: do you think we could pull off a surprise minute to win it party for deid friday.

His reply: I don't know but that would be awesome.

So I set to work on an invite and finished it as Deidra was sitting on my couch. Chris emailed it out. And we started gathering supplies for Friday night.

The hardest part was talking to Chris, because Deidra always seemed to be with one of us. "She's here." and "She's gone" made up most of our conversations.

She even asked me after the invites were out if I would help her throw a MTWI party on Saturday. I flat out told her no, because we had Stake Conference Saturday night (which was true) and she let it die.

Things were going really well Friday as we were making final preparations. I had most of the supplies loaded in the Jeep, and scorecards and name of game cards printed off when Chris called and said, "I think she's headed to your house." Which put a dead stop to the remaining prep until she left late in the afternoon.

Bentley had been very curious all morning to why I was gathering so many random objects. I told him we were having a surprise party for Deidra. A Minute to Win It surprise party. He couldn't stop talking about the party. When Chris called I warned him that Bentley may blow our cover. And he may have if Deidra had been more suspecting. He would ask her about her party and she would correct him and say, "You mean my birthday. Should I have a party?"

She arrived at the church completely surprised and even okay that we'd done it without her.

We sat it up in a the church gym and used the basketball scoreboard, complete with the buzzer, as our timer. The games were sat up around the perimeter and on one end we had a computer and projector sat up to show the rules of the games on.

It turned out great and we will be doing it again. MTWI would be great fun at a ward party, family reunion, friend party, or a mutual activity in case you are wondering.

I posted the printables on Crafting Chicks, if you are interested.

Bentley to the rescue!

Chod was getting ready to leave this morning when I asked if he needed lunch. He said he did and Bentley ran over to the table and said, "Daddy I made you a lunch!"

He was so proud and then showed Chod what he would be eating for lunch. A string cheese, a Blow Pop, and a bottle of water. With Chod's help a brownie and banana were also added to the box.

But my favorite part was when Chod left for the day carrying the Lightning McQueen lunchbox.

They are both cute.

Kiss me, you fool

Lincoln has come up with a new distraction tactic.

When he gets in trouble he grabs the reprimanders face with both hands and starts kissing. If they happen to be out of reach he blows the kisses.

It is hard to scold when you are being smothered in kisses.

My pirate the perfectionist

Yesterday while Lincoln was napping Bentley wanted to play pirates, so I joined the Captain downstairs. We set to work constructing our pirate ship out of blankets and pillows. I quickly learned that he keeps a pretty tight ship. Every suggestion I made was shot down. Every addition I contributed to our ship was wrong. He told me I didn't know how to be a pirate. Before I was sent to the gang plank I headed to the kitchen and drew up a treasure map I was proud of.

I had the buried treasure located in the chest freezer in the form of popsicles. Clever to the mom, but further reinforcement to the real pirate that she had no idea what she was doing.

Turns out my skull and cross bones looked more like a flower.

And treasure is supposed to be gold--not popsicles.

But he did give me credit for using an X to mark the spot.

Down on Lincoln's farm

I could eat him

Who loves their mom?

Yellow flowers

I'm a lucky lady.

This guy keeps a continuous dandelion bouquet sitting on the counter for me.

Death by Cake

Bentley was so excited about the carrot cake he helped make yesterday, that I let him stay up late so he could have a piece.

After the first bite he shuddered and was near gagging. And then he looked at me and reluctantly went for another bite. Like I was forcing it down him (much like dinner).

"You don't have to eat it if it is going to kill you!" I joked (come on, it's cake).

He sat down the fork and said, "I think it might kill me."

I wonder if it would have been different with chocolate cake?

Little Boy vs Big Cone

Casper's double scoop strawberry cone was no match for our Link! He downed it in good time with just a little drip patrol help from Chod.

Scheduling out

After a rough night for the little guy, Lincoln and I stayed home from church yesterday.

When he walked through the door after church, Bentley announced, "Next Mother's Day I get to stay home with you!"

Chod is waiting for someone to call dibs on Father's Day with him.

Aren't you cool?

Last week Deidra was over and made a comment to Chod along the lines of, "Well, don't you think you are all cool with your sleeves rolled up?"

And as Chod was unrolling his sleeves he replied, "No, I'm just trying to not look like a dork."

His sleeves hit in the middle of his forearm!

He says he has multiple shirts that the arms have shrunk in. How am I to know? I just wash, iron, and hang them.

It is up to him to not look like a dork.

Polly want a cracker?

Things Bentley says that make me think he actually listens to me:

  • "Actually"   (apparently I say this alot)
  • "Oh. My. Heck."
  • "You're driving me crazy!"
  • "I'd love to, but I can't right now."
  • "Lincoln, do I have to ask you again?"

While the cat's away...

I got away last week to Women's Conference at BYU with my sisters. When I got home I found that someone had hacked into my account and posted the picture of Linky in the tub.

If that was the worst that happened while I was gone don't you think Chod did a great job!

Oh yeah, that, and the waffle batter on the ceiling.
