Operation Get Fresh Air

The boys and I stayed home from church yesterday. All three of us with colds. And after a day spent inside (Sundays really are the longest day of the week) I knew we needed to be outside today.

We made of list of things to find on a nature walk. I started off with a yellow leaf, a red leaf, a feather, and then Bentley took over the list making, insisting we look for a bee wing. Have you ever looked for a bee wing in October? Not a bee. Just one of his wings.

We didn't find one.

But we did manage to spend 2 hours on the River Walk Trail throwing rocks in the river, picking up sticks, and of course looking for the allusive bee wing.

Drive Me Crazy

On our morning walk (which happened inside the church due to rainy weather) Bentley insisted on being held by me. Even when I sat him down, surrounded him with toys from the nursery, and had three kids entertaining him there was a tantrum thrown.

Wailing, gnashing of teeth, and head hitting the gym floor.

So I picked him up. Carried him on my right side until I was tired and then hoisted him on my shoulders.

Again a tantrum. He threw his whole body back and I it was all I could do to hold on to him.

So again on the right hip he went. He was content, so content he was singing happy songs. Until again my arm was tired.

I shifted him over to the left side. And again he started crying and kicking and hitting.

So I sat down with him. He played with toys and ran around.

Thinking it was safe, I start walking. He followed after me bawling with his hands stretched out.

This time I picked him up, walked out the door to our house and immediately put him down for a nap.

Baby Steps

Bentley took his first steps tonight!

That's right left foot, then right foot, then crash.

But steps still the same.
